About

The Mackinaw Township Recreation Program offers year-round activities for children that include baseball, softball, fishing, soccer, volleyball, and basketball. Most activities in the program encompass children from first grade through eighth grade. The program manages the Brock Lake Facility, where the public can fish year-round and use a pavilion for picnics, and it also supports activities at Westwood Park and the Heritage Lake ball diamond and soccer fields.

• Ages: 6–13 years old
• Schedule: The Mackinaw Township Recreation Board meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.

The Mackinaw Township Recreation Program was established on March 1, 1995. Its mission is to serve all age groups in the community by providing year-round activities for children through baseball, softball, fishing, soccer, volleyball, and basketball. All activities include opportunities for parents to volunteer and spend time with their children. The program stocks the ponds at the Brock Lake Facility under the advisement of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, and Brock Lake offers Blue Gill, Hybrid Sunfish, Redear, Albino Channel Catfish, and Channel Catfish. Registration forms for recreation sports are available on the program’s website or at the Mackinaw Municipal Building and can be dropped off at the front desk or in the drop box by the front door, and families can pay online with StackPay. Updates on sports are posted on the Facebook page “Mackinaw Recreation Page.”

The Mackinaw Township Recreation Board is led by Chairman David Haensel. Board members are Joe England, Brandon Fogler, Josh Gillespie, Terri Harmison, George Moore, Joe McGrath, and Blaze Smallwood, and the secretary is Amanda Nunley.
