YMCA of McDonough County Youth Programs include youth sports, child care, summer camps, wellness activities, aquatics, and before and after school programs. Children in the YMCA Community Childcare Center take part in field trips, picnics, going to the library, visiting a farm, walking around the neighborhood, and indoor play in a large gym.

The YMCA Community Child Care Center describes itself as serving the community as a professional in quality child care.
Members of the YMCA Community Child Care Center staff are required to have a college education and/or early childhood experience and must attend 15 hours of in-service training per year, and they are certified in CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens/HIV training. The YMCA Community Child Care Center is licensed by the Department of Children and Family Services. The childcare program is led by Childcare Center Director Sarah Ewen. The YMCA of McDonough County states that it is community centered, works side-by-side with neighbors so that everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive, and mobilizes local communities to effect lasting, meaningful change.
