Summer Day Camp includes water activities such as swimming at the Y camp pool, gardening in local community and on-site gardens, and weekly trips to the Mattoon Public Library. Campers take part in fitness classes that are tailored to each camper’s age and developmental level, as well as weekly field trips planned by camp staff. The camp also includes trips to local churches and nursing homes, and campers who join pool activities need to bring swimwear.
• Ages: 5–12 years old
• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
• Price: Full-Time (Members) $140 per week for 4+ days/week; Part-Time (Members) $84 per week for 3 days or less per week; Full-Time (Non-Members) $165 per week for 4+ days/week; Part-Time (Non-Members) $99 per week for 3 days or less per week; Late Pickup Fee: $1 per minute (per child) after 5:30 p.m.
Summer Day Camp offers themed weeks such as Super Heroes, Animal Planet, Mad Science, and Camp’s Got Talent, and swimming is scheduled almost daily at the Y camp. The camp goal is to create kind and confident youth, and campers must have completed one full year of Kindergarten to participate. Camp staff are described as compassionate and highly-trained, and financial assistance is available. Campers can participate in local community gardens, and the organization is seeking community partners in and around their communities who would like to help make their Summer Camps “AMAZING.” The leadership team includes Chief Executive Officer Blake Fairchild and several directors, including Senior Director: Wellness & Youth Development Emily Hayden and Youth Development Director Macie Boyd.
