Bond Christian Service Camp has been serving since 1953 and has been around for over 70 years. Its motto is “Where Friends Meet Jesus,” and it has enjoyed a partnership with more than 30 Christian Churches that own and oversee the ministry. The camp’s mission statement notes that it is their hope that kids of all ages create friendships that will last a lifetime and begin a relationship with Jesus that will last for eternity, and that Bond Camp has provided a natural setting where kids and adults can spend time connecting with God and one another.

Leadership includes Camp Director Jim Quick and a Camp Executive Board made up of representatives from several Christian churches, including President Todd Sorgea of Wood River FCC and Vice President Tyson Graber of Greenville FCC. Program leadership for specific camps includes Bond Camp Summer Staff for Day Camps 1 & 2; Kori Machado and Erin Waggoner for Teddy Bear, Junior 1, and Volleyball Camp; Tyson and Tiffani Graber and Josh Hicks for First Chance; Paul Cayo for Junior Wilderness; Christopher Earles and Grace Shaw for Jr. High 1; Todd Sorgea, Michael Gomez, and Josh McDowell for Jr. High 2; Josh McDowell as Lead Dean for Jr. High Outdoor Sports Camp and leader of Golf Camp; David Noble and Brad Cripe for Fin & Feather, with Brad assisted by expert fishermen and archers; Annette Donaldson, Liz Bayes, and their team of wranglers for Horseback Camp; Clayton Richison, Jon Michael Deisher, and Todd Sorgea for Deeper Life; and Brandon Atkinson, Grace Shaw, Ricky Ortiz, and a team from Ozark Christian College for High School week.

Junior Wilderness takes place in a designated Wilderness Camp area 100 yards into the woods north of the Lakeside Dorm and includes cooking meals over a fire and sleeping in tents. Fin & Feather includes both fishing and archery training, and campers in this program need to bring a working rod and reel and a tackle box with basic items; bows and arrows may be brought but are not required because the camp has several available. Horseback Camp is limited to 24 campers, is described as one of the favorite specialty weeks, and requires all campers to be 12 years of age before the week begins per camp insurance, with activities that include learning about horses and their equipment and riding experience.

Jr. High 1 & 2 and High School week are described as some of the largest camp programs, with High School week noted as the highlight of the summer for many teenagers where lifelong friendships are often formed and futures are planned. Deeper Life is described as a special week for campers who want to grow in their faith by being challenged to serve God with their whole hearts. Junior Overnight, Jr. High Overnight, and High School Overnight are described as condensed, single-night camps for retreat and fellowship before school begins.

Bond Christian Service Camp’s community involvement includes partnerships with churches such as Wood River FCC, Greenville FCC, Copper Creek Christian Church, Ramsey Christian Church, Witt Christian Church, Liberty Christian Church, St. Elmo Christian Church, Tower Hill Christian Church, Cowden First Christian Church, New Heights Christian Church, Leclaire Christian Church, West Salem Moravian Church, Greenville First Christian Church, and New Heights Christian Church in Bridgeton, MO, along with a team from Ozark Christian College in Joplin, MO for High School week. A testimonial from Todd Sorgea, President of the Camp Executive Board and a leader at Wood River FCC, states, “Bond Camp has provided a natural setting where kids and adults alike can spend time connecting with God and one another!”
