About
Irons Oaks Nature Camps offers Adventure Camp and Nature Kids Camp with activities such as trail explorations, outdoor play, hands-on activities, S.T.E.A.M. activities, games, and crafts. Campers take part in sensory hikes, dig in the dirt, listen to the sounds of the forest, feel different natural textures, and join fun games and creative crafts. Additional activities include outdoor adventures like building a shelter, navigating using nature, team survival challenges, identifying animal tracks, listening for bird calls, meeting live animals, planting trees, and taking on eco-friendly challenges.
Campers also do hands-on experiments, track animals, investigate plants, use magnifying glasses and field guides, and join scavenger hunts and puzzles. Themed weeks for Nature Kids Camp include A Touch of Nature, Art in the Wild, Survival 101, Wildlife Wonders, Green Guardians, Outdoor Detectives, Soaring Through Nature, Wet and Wild, Earth’s Cycles, and Celebrate Nature. Some weeks feature special wildlife guests, a visit from live raptors, and a close-up look at live reptiles. Other activities include studying birds, designing flying creations, testing gliders, wind-powered experiments, exploring ponds, creeks, and wetlands, water games, splashy experiments, hikes, creating nature keepsakes, and storytelling.

• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 3:00 pm
Irons Oaks Nature Camps is part of the Irons Oaks Environmental Learning Center, which offers additional programs such as Holiday Tree & Light Recycling, Eye Spy: Winter Wonderland, Forest Bathing Experience, Corporate Outreach and Retreat, Teams Course, High Ropes Course, Climbing Tower, Crate Climbing, Power Pole, Environmental Education, Room Rental, Public Events and Programs, and access to walking trails. After Care is available for an extra fee. Programs run rain or shine, and participants are required to sign a standard liability waiver. Program payment is due one month in advance of the program date, and cancellations must be made at least one month in advance.
The Irons Oaks Environmental Learning Center is a joint project of the Homewood-Flossmoor and Olympia Fields Park Districts and is a facility of both the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District and Olympia Fields Park District.
