About
Irons Oaks Nature Camps offers trail explorations, outdoor play, hands-on and S.T.E.A.M. activities, games, and crafts. Campers take part in learning, playing, and discovering as they explore the trails, learn new outdoor skills, tackle thrilling challenges, and create nature-inspired art. Adventure Camp includes two exciting trips each week and access to a swimming pool.
• Ages: 5–12 years old
• Schedule: Monday–Friday 8:30 am–3 pm options, plus a Friday-only 8:30 am–3 pm option
The program includes Nature Kids Camp for ages 5–9, which runs Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 3 pm, and Adventure Camp for ages 10–12, which also runs Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 3 pm. Friday Nature F.U.N. serves ages 5–9 as a one-day camp on Fridays from 8:30 am to 3 pm, with each Friday bringing a new outdoor adventure. Friday Nature F.U.N. is described as a one-day camp for campers who want just a taste of camp or who are attending other Monday to Thursday camps, and it is designed to help campers make Friends, get Unplugged and connect with Nature.
Irons Oaks Environmental Learning Center is a thirty-eight acre nature preserve that is home to a vast diversity of wildlife and habitat types, with walking trails open to the public from dawn to dusk. The Irons Oaks Environmental Learning Center is a joint project of the Homewood-Flossmoor and Olympia Fields Park Districts.
Participants are required to sign a standard liability waiver. Program payment is due one month in advance of the program date and can be made by cash, check made out to Irons Oaks Adventure Center, credit card (Visa, Discover, or MasterCard), or PO with an estimated payment date. Cancellations must be made at least one month in advance, and programs run rain or shine.
