Camp Maranatha is a fully-operational camp and retreat facility and operates as a non-profit church camp. The mission of Camp Maranatha is to reach and develop individuals for Christ, with a stated desire to be a premier Christian camp where individuals may come, grow, and go in the name of Jesus Christ. Camp Maranatha is affiliated with the Churches of God General Conference (Findlay, Ohio) and the Churches of God Conference in Findlay, Ohio.
Each staff member is required to complete First Aid, CPR, and AED training prior to the camp season. A nurse is on the property at all times, and a lifeguard is on duty during u-pick activities at the lake. Campers receive three meals and two snack times each day and are allowed one treat and one soda each day at the snack shack. All electronics, including phones and tablets, are not permitted, while camp staff have access to phones and walkie-talkies at all times. Camp Maranatha maintains a supply closet with camp essentials such as bedding and toiletries and states that it strives for a modest standard of dress. Camp Maranatha is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
The leadership team includes Camp Director Jeff Babbs; Groundskeepers John and Cathy Stevenson; Board President Drew Bolin; Board Treasurer Carol Lawson; and Board Members Mark Lawson, Tom Craig, Lora Parcel, Joe Parcel, Brandi Parcel, and Josh Parcel. John and Cathy Stevenson and Drew Bolin attend Moriah Church; Carol Lawson and Mark Lawson attend Home Church; Tom Craig is the head pastor at Palestine Bible Church; and Lora, Joe, Brandi, and Josh Parcel attend White Oak Church of God.
High school seniors who have just graduated may attend High School Camp in the following summer. Several scholarships are offered to campers who are unable to pay the registration fee. One camper, Maurah B., states that Camp Maranatha had an enormous impact on her life and faith and that she believes her relationship with God as an adult is strong because of her years as a camper and counselor.
Families receive a packing list that includes items such as a bible, journal, pens or pencils, money for the snack shack, flashlight, sunscreen, insect repellent, medications (kept and administered by camp staff), clothing, bedding, toiletries, and a swimsuit and beach towel. Banned items include electronics of any kind (including cell phones), knives, firearms, drugs, alcohol, vapes, e-cigarettes, and inappropriate books.
