Rock Falls Youth Football and Cheer includes football skills camps, a cheer Grace & Grip clinic, football camp, and non-contact grass drills with the Rock Falls High School football team. The program offers online registration and a league text chain for communication, and families can order Rock Falls Youth Football apparel online for a limited time.
• Ages: 10–14 years old
• Schedule: Registration runs March 20–June 30, with optional Saturday camps and clinics in June, football camp and equipment handout in mid-July, practices beginning late July, and games from August 16 through September 27.
The Football Skills Camp is a light introduction to basic football skills that progresses each week and concentrates on form, where participants bring water and wear athletic clothes and football cleats if they have them. The Cheer Grace & Grip Clinic is a high-energy skills training clinic for all skill levels that focuses on correct and safe techniques for motions, jumps, and stunts, where participants wear athletic clothes and tennis shoes and bring water. The Football Camp at Hinders Field has kids wear shorts, T-shirts, and cleats, and raffle tickets and equipment are handed out before camp on the same dates, with a completed sports physical form required before any child can practice and game jerseys held until raffle ticket stubs and/or money are turned in.
All practices are scheduled from 5:30–7:30 PM, starting with helmets-only the week of July 28–August 1, then full pads the weeks of August 4–8 and August 11–15, and continuing Monday–Thursday from August 18 through the end of the season, with Fridays added as needed. All raffle ticket stubs and/or money are due on or before Monday, August 11, the first game is on Saturday, August 16, the last game is on Saturday, September 27, and equipment is turned in on Monday, September 29 at the practice field.
Rock Falls Youth Football states that its goal is to equip students with the skills needed to participate competitively in high school and beyond. Students in grades 5–8 who reside in Rock Falls are encouraged to join the league, and teams are organized by grade level to play other area teams. The program notes a 2023 undefeated season. Rock Falls High School identifies Derick Cox as the Title IX Coordinator and states that it does not discriminate on the basis of sex in admission to or in its educational programs or activities.
