Lights Camera Dancin' Dance Studio, 688 E. Irving Park Road, Roselle, IL 60172
About
Lights Camera Dancin' Summer Session & Dance Camps offers classes and leveled dance camps that include Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Pointe, Lyrical, Musical Theater, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Jumps & Turns, Creative Dance, Combination Classes, Parent Tot Classes, and Adult Classes. Leveled Dance Camps allow dancers to experience all styles of dance in one session, and all leveled camps serve as the audition for the competitive team, Action Dance Crew. The program also includes the Shooting Stars Performance Team for dancers who want competitive and performing team experience with fewer commitments, and competitive team selection is conducted over the duration of summer camp rather than in a single audition hour.
• Ages: 2–18 years old
• Schedule: 5 week summer session; 2025 summer session is 5 weeks long and classes begin July 16
Owner and Artistic Director Stacie Murray has over 20 years of experience as a performer and over 10 years of experience as a choreographer and teacher, with extensive training in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Lyrical, Pointe, HipHop, Musical Theatre, and Modern Dance, and she has taken dance lessons since age two. Tumble & Dance Instructor Dan Peres started as a Hip Hop dancer at age six, began dancing competitively in 2006, has trained in Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Contemporary, Ballet, and Musical Theatre, has been a member of the National Performance Team for Sophisticated Dance Productions, was a finalist for the So You Think You Can Dance 2012 Performance Team, has choreographed and coached Jay Stream Competitive Cheerleading for three seasons, and is a faculty member with Spotlight Dance Cup Dance Competition. Lights Camera Dancin' Dance Studio is dedicated to providing a well-rounded, structured, encouraging, challenging, and energetic environment for all dancers, focused on teaching proper technique, execution, and performance while adhering to the specific needs of each dancer and building self-confidence.
Lights Camera Dancin' is the home of the Action Dance Crew Dancers, and classes are offered for recreational students through Broadway bound students. The studio has been named a Best of Bloomingdale winner for Dance and Fitness for 2 consecutive years, and Action Dance Crew has received Entertainment Awards, World Dance Champions, National Dance Champions, Top Choreography Awards, Studio Excellence Awards, High Score Awards, Special Awards, Overall Awards, National Dance Champions, and National Finals Showdown Grand Champions. For the last 2 weeks of camp, dancers are instructed to wear all form-fitting black dancewear with hair in a slicked back bun.
The studio performs for the community and competes at regional and national dance competitions. Stacie volunteers instructing dance classes for foster children through Hephzibah, coordinates the Flash Mob dance and entertainment portion for all participants during the American Cancer Society: Relay For Life, helps girl scouts earn their dance badge by donating her studio, time, and knowledge, teaches “Explore More Day” for children to experience dance and possible careers in dance, volunteers at local schools, and has had her dance team participate in a competition that donates to a charity. Many dancers and families describe the studio as a second home and second family, including a former dancer who shared that dancing at Lights Camera Dancin' and with Action Dance Crew feels like coming home, and a parent who described four consecutive years at the studio and on the Action Dance Crew competitive team as a time of growth, confidence gained, lessons learned, and friendships and memories made with teachers Stacie, Sara, and Dan.
