Salem Soccer Association Inc. offers travel soccer that includes Spring soccer, Fall soccer, soccer evaluations, tryouts, and practices. Players take part in travel soccer during the Spring in one league and during the Fall in another league, with teams formed through evaluations and tryouts. The program organizes players into specific divisions and uses multiple fields with different game formats for practices and games.

In the Spring, Salem Soccer Association Inc. plays in the SIMSS (Southern Illinois Middle School Soccer) league, with JV teams for 5th–7th grade and Varsity teams for 5th–8th grade, depending on player availability. During the Fall, the program plays in the SWIS (Southwest Illinois Soccer) traveling recreation league and enters at least one team in each SWIS age division based on players registered. Divisions offered include 1st/2nd grade Coed; 3rd/4th grade Girls; 3rd/4th grade Boys; 5th/6th grade Girls; 5th/6th grade Boys; and 7th/8th grade Coed. The program decides whether to submit separate boys and girls teams or one coed team in SIMSS based on how many players are registered. Field configurations used by the program include 11v11, 9v9, and 6v6 setups for both game and practice fields. Salem Soccer Association Inc. played a major role in getting soccer at Salem Community High School (SCHS) and is working toward soccer in Middle Schools of Southern Illinois. Salem also connects with other local soccer options, including beginners and youth soccer through the City of Salem/YMCA for younger players, and girls soccer in Spring and boys soccer in Fall at Salem Community High School.
