Kris' Power Tumbling, Dance, & Cheer Center was founded by Kris Metzger, who opened her first gym in 1995 in Cowden while attending Eastern Illinois University, expanded to Shelbyville in 1997, and later moved the gym to a larger 16,000-square-foot facility. Kris Metzger is a former U.S. Tumbling Association (USTA) National Coach of the Year. The gym reports 32 Team National titles, 28 USTA and USAG National Team members, and 9 athletes who have competed at World Competitions in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2021, 2022, and 2023. The program states that for over 30 years it has been dedicated to helping young athletes reach their full potential and is built on the values of teamwork, hard work, and fun, with an emphasis on a safe and supportive environment. The gym also offers a memorial scholarship created by Kris in honor of her daughter, Riley, which supports advanced students with lessons or college funding. Families can use the iClassPro App and KPTCStrong to access news, classes, and parties.
