SMC Kid's Place & Camp Sonshine is a faith-based child care program that includes an after-school program called Kid's Place and a summer camp called Camp Sonshine. Kid's Place was founded on the principle of providing a safe God-centered environment in which kids could learn and have fun. It is the stated prayer of the program that children will gain a deeper understanding of God's love for them and experience friendships that will last a lifetime.
• Ages: 5–11 years old
• Schedule: After-school care Monday–Friday, generally 3:00–5:30pm, with early opening on early dismissal days
• Price: Tuition per child is $80 per week, $75 per week for each additional child in a family; limited part-time care is $18 per pre-arranged day
Since 1999, Sherman Methodist Church has provided faith-based after-school programming for kindergarten through fifth grade in the Sherman community through SMC Kid's Place & Camp Sonshine. The program includes a faith-based summer camp for incoming kindergartners through sixth grade. The staff-to-child ratio is 1:10. All staff are certified in CPR and first aid and take part in continuing education on-site and off-site throughout the year. The mission of SMC Kid's Place & Camp Sonshine is to provide a warm and nurturing environment where children feel safe, with after-school and summer camp activities designed to encourage each child's growth through cooperative play and creative activities.
