SMC Kid's Place & Camp Sonshine

SMC Kid's Place & Camp Sonshine is a faith-based child care program that offers an after-school program and a summer camp. All activities are described as carefully designed to nurture children’s emotional, intellectual, and physical growth through stimulating situations and hands-on learning opportunities. The program maintains a staff-to-child ratio of 1:10.

• Ages: 5–11 years old
• Schedule: After-school care Monday–Friday, 3:00pm to 5:30pm, with early opening on early dismissal days and closure on holidays when school is not in session
• Price: Tuition per child is $80 per week, $75 per week for each additional child in a family, and $18 per day for limited, pre-arranged part-time care

Since 1999, Sherman Methodist Church has provided faith-based after-school programming for kindergarten through fifth grade in the Sherman community, which includes SMC Kid's Place & Camp Sonshine. The program’s mission states that it offers a warm and nurturing environment where children feel safe, with after-school and summer camp activities specifically designed to encourage each child’s growth through cooperative play and creative activities. Kids Place was founded on the principle of providing a safe, God-centered environment in which children can learn and have fun, and it includes a faith-based summer camp for incoming kindergarteners through sixth grade.

The staff at SMC Kid's Place & Camp Sonshine are all certified in CPR and first aid, and they participate in continuing education on-site and off-site throughout the year.
