The Academy of Dance Arts

The Academy of Dance Arts offers classes for ages 7+ and classes for all ages, with adult classes in tap, hip-hop, and ballet. Its offerings also include Stretch & Strengthening and Pilates Mat classes, Musical Theatre, Leaps & Turns, Modern, and Progressing Ballet Technique, and classes are offered through the Trimester program.

Programs

• Academy core curriculum classes — For ages 7+; classes for all ages · The Academy offers classes for all ages. Adults can explore tap, hip-hop, and ballet. Classes cater to all skill levels and are offered through the Trimester program.
• Adult Dance Classes — Adults · Adults can explore the joy of dance through tap, hip-hop, and ballet. Classes cater to all skill levels and are offered through the Trimester program.
• Stretch & Strengthening (S&S) & Pilates — Stretch and Strengthen and/or Pilates Mat classes are highly recommended for ALL Students.
• Musical Theatre — This fun class is perfect for those interested in performing in theatrical productions, show choir, or anyone looking to develop characterization and acting abilities while dancing.
• Leaps & Turns — Technique class focused on center exercises and progressions across the floor based on Jazz and Ballet philosophies. Instructor approval needed to register.
• Modern — Modern classes are rooted in Release, Limon and Cunningham techniques. It is strongly advised that a dancer should have a solid understanding of basic ballet techniques.
• Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) — A valuable supplement for any dancer, with greatest benefit for a student with a strong ballet background who wishes to further solidify core strength and body awareness.

About the provider

The Academy of Dance Arts was founded in 1999 by Sherry Moray, who is the Artistic Director. The program says its mission is "Educating dance artists...mind, body & spirit." It lists internationally trained faculty, recognition as a premier ballet studio for excellence in Ballet Training, and Youth America Grand Prix Outstanding School Awards in 2000, 2003, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2024, and 2025. Sherry Moray received the YAGP Outstanding Teacher Award in 2000, 2009, 2012, 2017, 2019, 2020, and 2022, and the faculty received the award in 2022 and 2023.
