About
The Academy of Dance Arts offers dance classes that include participation in full-length ballet productions, Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP), and regional and national dance competitions. The program includes a wide variety of dance classes for dancers ranging from tiny tots to pre-professional levels and focuses on multiple dance disciplines.
• Schedule: Academy office hours are Monday–Thursday 12:00–9:00 PM, Friday 12:00–7:00 PM, and Saturday 8:30 AM–6:00 PM.
Founded in 1999 by Artistic Director Sherry Moray, The Academy of Dance Arts states its mission as “Educating dance artists...mind, body & spirit.” The faculty is internationally trained, and the program offers world-class dance education with performance opportunities in a nurturing environment that allows the mind, body, and spirit of each dancer to thrive. The Academy has been recognized as a premier ballet studio for its excellence in ballet training and has received the Youth America Grand Prix “Outstanding School Award” in 2000, 2003, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2024, and 2025. Artistic Director Sherry Moray received the YAGP “Outstanding Teacher Award” in 2000, 2009, 2012, 2017, 2019, 2020, and 2022, and the faculty received the YAGP “Outstanding Teacher Award” in 2022 and 2023. The Academy’s “Fairy Dance” was a Top 12 Classical Ensemble at the YAGP 2024 Finals in New York City. The Academy serves families from Warrenville, Naperville, Downers Grove, Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, and Hinsdale, and offers a complimentary placement evaluation and studio tour by appointment; in an ongoing effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other communicable diseases, drop-in students or tours are not accommodated at this time. One parent describes the experience as life changing for their daughter, noting excellent instruction in a positive and nurturing environment, a welcoming atmosphere, focus on multiple dance disciplines, and training that includes elite competitions, and states that they believe this is the western suburbs’ premier dance studio with an excellent national reputation.
