Redwing Farm Riding Lessons is a family owned and run program that specializes in American Saddlebred Horses. The leadership team includes owner Judith (Judy) Werner, instructor/trainer Hilary Wilcox, and assistant trainer/instructor Abby Saxe. All instructors are members of the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF), have taken the Safesport training, and have been background checked through USEF.
Instructor Hilary Wilcox is a third-generation horsewoman who grew up on Redwing Farm, graduated from the Stephens College equestrian program with a degree in Equestrian Business and Instruction, and has produced World and National Champion riders. She has worked in leading barns in the Saddlebred industry, coached many riders to world and national titles, and coached the United States Saddle Seat Equitation team to two gold medals. Assistant trainer and instructor Abby Saxe is a graduate of William Woods University, has worked for Gayle Lampe as a personal assistant and head clinic groom, has experience at a Saddlebred breeding farm in Kentucky, and has helped get many national and world champions into the ring while working for Mercer Springs Farm. In between shows, Abby has taught lessons in the evenings at Stonebrook Farms and has helped many students learn and grow.
The program states that the safety, security, and well-being of riders is of the utmost importance and that it strives to be part of organizations that promote that. Redwing Farm is affiliated with several organizations connected to the safety, organization, and continuation of the sport. Owner Judith Werner is on the board at USEF, has been president of the American Saddle Horse Association twice, and has served on several other boards and committees to promote the Saddlebred and help the horse community. Instructor Hilary serves on the board of the United Professional Horseman’s Association, the United States Equestrian Federation Saddleseat World Cup Committee, and several other industry boards and committees. Redwing Farm has been a well known name in the horse industry for the talented horses it has produced.
