About
Southern Illinois Christian Service Camp Summer Programs offers summer programs that include access to a climbing wall, a swimming pool with a bath house, an open recreation area, and an outside basketball court. The camp also hosts events throughout the year and makes its facilities and grounds available for rental on a building-by-building basis.
• Schedule: Summer programs begin in June and typically run through the first week of August.
Southern Illinois Christian Service Camp Summer Programs operates at a Christian campground supported by roughly 40 Independent Christian Churches/Churches of Christ in the region, from Mount Vernon down to the Paducah area. The camp has been at its current site since 1951, and its association was founded in the 1930s. The property covers 17 acres of enclosed grounds with many pine and maple trees, including some pine trees that are over 60 years old. Facilities include a Dining Hall, ten cabins that accommodate twelve to fourteen people each, a Chapel, two staff cabins, a canteen, a climbing wall, a swimming pool with a bath house, an open recreation area, an outside basketball court, four shelters, and two gazebos. The camp’s main purpose is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ through its summer programs and to offer a Christ-focused facility for use in Southern Illinois. The camp is supported primarily by the gifts and time of many volunteers and also supports area youth with a few events throughout the year.
