About

Southern Illinois Christian Service Camp Summer Programs include activities such as a climbing wall, use of a swimming pool, and basketball on an outside court. The camp facilities also include a dining hall, ten cabins that each accommodate twelve to fourteen people, a chapel, two staff cabins, a canteen, an open recreation area, four shelters, and two gazebos.

• Schedule: Summer programs begin in June and typically run through the first week of August.

Southern Illinois Christian Service Camp Summer Programs take place at a Christian campground that has been at its current site since 1951 and is supported primarily by the gifts and time of many volunteers. The campground association was founded in the 1930s and is supported by roughly 40 Independent Christian Churches/Churches of Christ in the region from Mount Vernon down to the Paducah area. The enclosed grounds cover 17 acres with many pine and maple trees, including some pine trees that are over 60 years old. The camp’s main stated purpose is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ through its summer programs and to offer a Christ-focused facility for use in Southern Illinois. The grounds are available for rental on a building-by-building basis.
