Carmel Swim Academy

Carmel Swim Academy offers Caregiver/Child Lessons for ages 3–36 months, Hydros Series for ages 3–4, Neptune Series for ages 5–6, Triton Series for ages 7–9, Poseidon Series for ages 10–14, Teen/Adult Lessons for ages 15+, Adaptive Lessons, Private/Semi-Private Lessons, Junior Swim League, and Homeschool Membership. Junior Swim League is a pre-competitive, recreational swim team with three weekly practices and a neighborhood-style swim meet each session. The program also offers lap swimming and water-based fitness classes for adults.

About the provider

Carmel Swim Academy opened in July 2023 and says it is built by five decades of experience at all levels of swimming. Its leadership team includes Chris Plumb, Head Coach and CEO; Maggie Mestrich, Director of Business Development; and Brittany Van Meter, Aquatics Director. The mission statement is: creating a safer, healthier, and stronger community through swimming. Chris Plumb has coached at the highest levels of the sport and served on Team USA’s staff at the 2024 Olympic Games. CSA also says its Free Swim Lesson program provides scholarships to central Indiana children experiencing financial hardship to participate in lessons at no cost.

CSA states it is not a continuously enrolled program and families sign up for the classes that fit within their schedule. Free Swim Lesson applicants may have to spend time on a waiting list, and after receiving 20 swim lessons, swimmers may be asked to return to the waiting list briefly. CSA says any child on a free/reduced lunch program, or with a sibling in that program if the swimmer is not school age, or in a family receiving county utility assistance is eligible for the free swim lesson program.
