DistinXion Youth Camps and CHAMPIONS Teams is part of DistinXion, a non-profit organization founded by Luke Zeller and the Zeller family. DistinXion launched its pilot year in 2009 with one camp and has grown every year since then. The organization’s mission is to integrate elite character and sports training to build family relationships through basketball camps, private training, teams, speaking engagements, and tournaments. Its official IRS mission statement says that, based on Christian principles, DistinXion promotes and inspires positive character traits in boys and girls through athletic camps, clinics, and seminars, focusing on core values such as Character, Honesty, Attitude, Motivation, Perseverance, “I am responsible,” Optimism, Network of friends, and Serving others. The DistinXion C.H.A.M.P.I.O.N.S. Program is described as a player development program that prepares players for their next steps in basketball and in life, including those who want to play college basketball and those who want to maximize their high school careers and then attend college as students. DistinXion describes its summer programming as an elite summer development program for elementary and middle school athletes with the mission to prepare them physically and mentally for their upcoming school season and refers to its basketball experience as “positively different,” with a focus on skill and character development on and off the court. The organization states that it wants 100% of its program participants to be successful and uses the phrase “being positively different” as both its motto and its standard. DistinXion is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and it states that all proceeds go toward youth camps, mission camps, and a scholarship fund for its athletes. The leadership team includes Luke Zeller as President and Hope Zeller as VP of Talent Management. Staff and volunteers are described as dedicated to serving communities around the country with the mission to make a positive impact on athletic culture by building up families and developing positive character in young athletes.
