Columbus Parks and Recreation Youth Sports Programs include youth baseball divisions such as T-ball, Jr Coach Pitch, Machine Pitch, Minor, Major, and Senior, along with a Youth Flag Football League and recreational flag football. The programs also offer Youth Basketball, The National Basketball Academy Basketball Camp, IUC Prospect Camp, Youth Fencing sessions, and roles such as Batting Cage Attendant, Tennis Instructor, and Umpires/Referees. Youth Fencing sessions provide instruction on form, technique, and how to properly engage in a bout, with equipment rental available during class.
• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: Seasonal youth baseball in spring with games beginning in May; a spring youth flag football season from May 23–June 27; week-long basketball camp sessions in late June; a two-day basketball prospect camp in June; and multiple 3- to 4-week Youth Fencing sessions offered November through April.
• Price: Youth baseball league fees range from $66–$91 with a $10 early registration discount; Youth Flag Football League is $75; The National Basketball Academy Basketball Camp ranges from $250–$265 depending on registration date; IUC Prospect Camp is $195; Youth Fencing sessions cost $45–$60 with optional $20 equipment rental.
The Columbus Parks and Recreation Youth Sports Programs are led by Sports Programs Manager Seth Rice and Sports Coordinator Collin Lollar. The Columbus Parks and Recreation Board includes President Dave Bush, Vice President Brian Wilson, Secretary Miriam Portaluppi, and member Chaz Smith, with Frank Miller serving as City Council Liaison. The Board’s mission is “To enrich lives” within the department’s planning area, and the mission of the spring youth baseball program is to ensure that each participant registered for the program has a safe, fun, and enriching experience with baseball. The Columbus Parks and Recreation Board and department operate under the “Indiana Parks and Recreation Law” (IC 36-10-3) in accordance with City Ordinance.
Cincinnati Reds Winter Camps are held in partnership with Columbus Parks and Recreation, and Youth Fencing sessions are offered with the Salle de Lutins Fencing Club. The FOCDC contracted MKSK to conduct a Master Plan of the Fair Oaks Mall and Donner Center.
