Columbus Youth Camp Specialty Camps focus on themed weeks that include STEM, sports, arts, cooking, and outdoor adventure. Campers take part in activities such as zip line, team challenge course, paddling on the lake, using the mountain bike trail, and swimming. Specialty Camps also include STEAM activities, designing 3D projects, playing games, hiking trails, water fun, and recreation at the Boys & Girls Club, along with occasional field trips and other experiential learning programs and training for youth and adults.

Foundation For Youth, which operates Columbus Youth Camp Specialty Camps, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is “To Inspire and Enable Our Youth, Our Community.” Foundation For Youth has been a community organization for youth and families since 1928, and Columbus Youth Camp has been providing fun, laughter, and learning since 1935. FFY programs are based on four cornerstones: Commitment to Learning, Character and Leadership, Positive Identity, and Healthy Lifestyles. Staff are certified through the Child and Youth Care Certification Board (CYCCB), a nationally recognized certification that involves professional standards in youth development, relationship building, crisis intervention, and ethical practice. Foundation For Youth is also recognized as a Platinum Level participant in the STAY Youth designation, and it relies on community support, volunteers, and partnerships to sustain its programs and expand its outreach. M.E.T.A.S. (Making Education Thrive Around Summertime), a partnership between Foundation For Youth and Su Casa Columbus, provides free transportation, meals, culturally responsive support, and strong community partnerships to help prevent summer learning loss for Latino students in Bartholomew County.
