• Schedule: Open weekdays, during school breaks, and on snow days

Foundation For Youth Out-of-School Programs serves school-aged youth in K–12th grades. Out-of-school options include after school, summer, fall and spring break programming, and snow days. The Summer of Exploration includes field trips, a Columbus Youth Camp stay, a talent show, and a carnival. Columbus Youth Camp covers 137 acres of forest, trails, and water.

Staff are certified through the Child and Youth Care Certification Board (CYCCB), and staff use a TBRI/trauma-informed approach with all members. This approach includes healthy touch, eye contact, controlled tone, volume, and cadence, playful interaction, and positive conversations as part of the behavior approach. Staff teach children about their regulation and guide them to regulating activities, ensure children have access to water and snacks, and provide advanced notice of changes while supporting transitions.

Foundation For Youth has been serving youth and families since 1928. Its mission is “To Inspire and Enable Our Youth, Our Community.” Programs under Foundation For Youth include Athletics, Aquatics, Boys & Girls Club, Columbus Youth Camp, TBRI: Foundation For Hope, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bartholomew County, Council for Youth Development, Bartholomew County Prevention Initiatives, and Safe Place. Foundation For Youth is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and STAY Youth is designated a Platinum Level participant, with staff holding nationally recognized certification through the Child and Youth Care Certification Board (CYCCB). FFY focuses on four cornerstones: Commitment to Learning, Character and Leadership, Positive Identity, and Healthy Lifestyles.

FFY relies on community support, volunteers, and partnerships to sustain its programs and expand its outreach. Former FFY kids are now local business leaders, educators, medical professionals, public servants, and community organizers, and FFY develops meaningful connections and collaborations to advance and strengthen collective outcomes.
