The stated mission of i9 Sports Youth Sports Programs is to help kids succeed in life through sports by providing a youth sports experience that teaches the importance of good sportsmanship on the field and in life. The program is described as the nation’s largest multi-sport provider focused solely on high-quality, community-based youth sports programs, with over 5 million registrations in communities across the country. It offers youth sports leagues, camps, and clinics for kids ages 3 and up in sports such as flag football, soccer, basketball, baseball, volleyball, lacrosse, and tennis, and is committed to age-appropriate instruction, making sports fun for kids, and being convenient for busy families. Nike Kids Camps powered by i9 Sports are for campers ages 5–12, with age groups broken out so kids work on age-appropriate skills.
Youth flag football leagues frequently run year-round, are beginner-friendly, and are available nationwide. Youth soccer leagues are for kids ages 3–14 and focus on soccer, sportsmanship, and athletics. Beginner-friendly youth basketball leagues are for kids ages 5–14. Some locations also offer lacrosse, cheerleading, tennis, and multi-sport programs, along with after-school programs, camps, and clinics.
Each week, one of nine sportsmanship values is built into practice and game play across all age groups, and a sportsmanship medal is awarded to a player who best demonstrates the weekly value. The sportsmanship values taught are Respect, Positivity, Teamwork, Humility, Enthusiasm, Determination, Integrity, Inclusion, and Leadership. i9 Sports is proud to support the Aspen Institute’s national Project Play initiative and has been selected as a Project Play Champion for taking actions to encourage multi-sport sampling and help grow national youth sports participation rates.
One parent, Christian F. from Atlanta, GA, describes being thankful for a place where children can be kids while learning athletic and life skills, and notes good communication and measures to keep kids as safe as possible. Another parent, Kerry G. from New Braunfels, TX, says the program continued during COVID concerns and that the sites felt safe and were set up very well. Lisa G. from Charlotte, NC, highlights that practice, game, and fun all happen in one morning and that her coach has been well organized. Erica M. from Phoenix, AZ, describes it as a very well run program that focuses on teaching good sportsmanship and respect, with no pressure about performance.
