Learning Tree Preschool has provided early childhood education to the community for over 40 years. The mission at Learning Tree Preschool is to create an atmosphere in which children can develop curiosity, independence, self-confidence, and social skills through teacher-directed and self-initiated activities using an age-appropriate curriculum and close family/child/teacher interaction. The preschool was established by First United Methodist Church as a nurturing ministry to families in the community, with a goal to serve an interdenominational community, and it strives to teach children to exhibit the loving, caring behaviors associated with Christ's teaching toward themselves, their classmates, and their community. Classes are grouped together by age to ensure age-appropriate lessons and activities, with a focus on fostering socialization, language development, fine and gross motor skills, and sensory exploration in Walking 1's to 4 years, and the stated goal in PreKindergarten is to make sure every child is kindergarten ready. Extended care is offered both before class time and in the afternoon after class, and in the afternoon extended care, parents must provide lunchtime.

Learning Tree Preschool loves to offer many events throughout the year to families and to the community, and Trunk or Treat is an event hosted by the preschool and First United Methodist Church. The Art Show is a fundraiser for the Love-A-Child Scholarship and includes a display of children's art throughout the entire year. The leadership team includes Co-Directors Gayle Kelley and Teresa Nickerson and Administrative Assistant Trish Garrett.
