About
Soccer Shots is a soccer program where children participate in soccer activities using a curriculum created under the guidance of childhood education specialists, professional soccer players, and experienced and licensed soccer coaches. The program uses developmentally appropriate techniques and age-appropriate activities that take place in a setting called Soccer Island, which is described as a safe environment used for the program. Program types include MINI (Toddler), CLASSIC (Preschool), and PREMIER (School-Age), each focusing on soccer skills through structured games and activities.
• Ages: 18 months–8 years old
Soccer Shots was formed in 1997 and began franchising in 2005, opening its first four franchises in Ohio, Delaware, Florida, and Pennsylvania. From its beginnings, it has grown to over 300 territories across 43 states and 2 Canadian provinces, with over 560,000 enrollments in Soccer Shots programming in 2023. Soccer Shots Franchising, LLC is based in central Pennsylvania, just east of Harrisburg. The founding partners are Jeremy Sorzano and Jason Webb, and in May of 2009, Justin Bredeman became the third Soccer Shots partner.
Every Soccer Shots coach must complete a comprehensive training program to receive certification, and all coaches are trained in the use of developmentally appropriate techniques. Coaches are routinely evaluated and undergo ongoing training, and the coach selection process evaluates both the ability to coach soccer and the ability to engage and inspire children. The curriculum is developmentally appropriate, aligns with early childhood education standards, and is constantly re-evaluated and updated to stay current with those standards.
Soccer Shots offers the MINI program, which introduces children to fundamental soccer principles such as using feet, dribbling, and basic rules through songs, fun games, and positive reinforcement. The CLASSIC program uses creative and imaginative games and focuses on basic soccer skills like dribbling, passing, and shooting, and highlights a positive character trait each session such as respect, teamwork, and appreciation. The PREMIER program is an advanced option for school-aged children, using a curriculum that builds on skills and introduces competitive play with fun games and team competitions.
Soccer Shots partners with local childcare centers, preschools, elementary schools, and other organizations to bring soccer to more children, and it is offered in over 43 states and two provinces across the U.S. and Canada. Through partnerships with the U.S. Soccer Foundation, Nike, and other organizations, Soccer Shots aims to impact children and communities across the U.S. and the world. Soccer Shots is consistently recognized by Entrepreneur Magazine as the #1 Children’s Fitness Franchise in the U.S. The program’s stated mission is: “As the premier Children’s Soccer Experience, our mission is clear – we aim to positively impact children’s lives.”
Parents have shared feedback such as appreciation for organized sessions and engaged children, as in Sarah’s comment from San Diego, CA, noting that Soccer Shots did “an amazing job of keeping the kids engaged in what was happening.” Other parents, including Nicole from Kalamazoo, MI, and Brittany from Dallas, Texas, describe observing growth in their children over months in the program, and Tony from Phoenix, AZ, notes that their instructor “was great” and that their family signed up for another season. Soccer Shots also proactively communicates cancellations due to weather or other circumstances and emphasizes timely, responsive communication.
