The Salvation Army Youth Music Programs and Summer Camps include activities such as swimming, canoeing, hiking, archery, sports, arts and crafts, music, drama, team-building activities, leadership training, community service projects, and scouting. Camp sessions are available as both day summer camps and overnight summer camps, and some activities also take place at Kroc Community Centers. The Salvation Army provides numerous music, art, and athletic programs for aspiring youth, and camps offer outdoor recreation, educational activities, and hands-on projects.

• Price: The Salvation Army’s network of free summer camps allows kids of all ages, despite their family’s income level, to have a safe, fun, unforgettable summer camp experience. Our free summer camps also help strengthen family bonds while providing enriching experiences. Most of our summer camps accept state-provided child care subsidies, and scholarships are also available to help families offset the cost.

The Salvation Army camp counselors are equipped to help children navigate the complicated emotions and struggles that can arise for those who experience poverty and related hardships, and they are trained to recognize the effects of the stressors of poverty on children and respond to a child’s emotional needs so kids feel safe, included, and welcome. Summer camp programs provide thousands of kids of all ages with a fresh perspective on life as they meet new friends, discover new talents, and experience the benefits that being outdoors provides. Children can learn to swim, play sports, make music, create arts and crafts, and participate in scouting under supervision by trained counselors, in a safe, structured, and positive environment that keeps kids of all skill levels active and engaged. Camp sessions are programmed with hands-on activities that spark curiosity and collaboration and foster education. Each Kroc Community Center offers after-school programs, recreational opportunities, and community programs dedicated to fostering healthy futures, and with over 400 after-school programs nationwide, The Salvation Army provides kids with access to a safe place to study, read, learn, connect with friends, play sports, and enrich the mind.
