Premier Arts has been inspiring Elkhart since 2006 and serves as the Award-Winning Resident Theater Company of The Lerner Theater in Elkhart, Indiana. Its mission states that Premier Arts inspires the imagination and develops the creative spirit of the community, with a focus on youth, family and lifelong learning, and it emphasizes civic pride, confidence and character building for everyone engaged in its success. The mission also states that the program is committed to providing a fun and safe environment, lifelong performing arts education, programming, and opportunities for expressing diverse creative talents and interests, professional entertainment and customer service that exceeds expectations, and artistic excellence and leadership in developing the total theatre experience in the downtown Elkhart Arts & Entertainment district.
The leadership team includes Executive Artistic Director Craig Gibson and Head of Premier Arts Academy Ashley Molyneaux, along with staff members such as Director of Marketing & Communications Tanner Smale, Technical Director Kris Wrathell-Denton, Costumer Brittainy Gilliland, Public Relations Specialist Stephanie Krol, Company Manager Allison Bailey, Stage Manager Patrick Bailey, Hair & Makeup specialist Maggie Kinsey, Sound Engineer Eric Bickel, and Director of Administrative Services Lauren Matthews. The Board of Directors includes Elizabeth Bond, JJ Osterloo Bond, Angie Burtsfield, Alexis Martin Klose, Kristin Mereness, Sarah Myers, Beth North, Lisa Gilkey Schoetzow, Mindy Steele, and Emeritus Members Elizabeth Naquin Borger and Alice A. Martin.
Premier Arts is described as a recognized regional leader in providing diverse, professional performing arts education and entertainment, with a focus on youth, family and lifelong learning. The region supports Premier Arts through attendance, contribution and volunteerism, and Premier Arts states that it is a reflection of Elkhart’s diverse community and is proud to support those who support it, including organizations and businesses such as 1st Source Bank, Community Foundation of Elkhart County, Elkhart Education Foundation, Lerner Theatre, Midwest Museum of American Art, The Gurley Leep Automotive Family, and many others.
