Teen and adult martial arts classes provide fitness and real-world tactics to keep participants safe, and the training regimen encourages consistent engagement in dynamic exercises for physical and mental growth, with the study of Taekwondo instilling qualities of patience and perseverance. The program states that it transforms kids into leaders full of discipline and focus and helps adults get fit and safe, fast, and that its program cultivates courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and an unwavering spirit.
The school’s mission is to help the community get safer and stronger, inside and out. Apex Taekwondo Center identifies itself as the best martial arts school in Fishers and the best kids and adults martial arts center in Fishers. The owner and head instructor, Master Stephen McEwan, is a graduate in K-12 Education (2009) and has dedicated his life to martial arts training since the age of 8.
Parent and student feedback describes Master Stephen as patient and positive, meeting the needs of students of all ages, ranks, and athletic abilities, and making students feel proud of their accomplishments. Testimonials state that instruction is coupled with life skills and affirmation of students’ achievements, and that he is great with young children, including a 3.5-year-old and a 5-year-old. Families report that both parents and children take classes and enjoy them, that there are options from very young children to adults, and that he encourages students to “do OUR best, not our neighbour’s best.” One practitioner with experience in Taekwondo since 1989 describes Stephen McEwan as one of the best Taekwondo teachers they have met, with broad and extensive knowledge, highly motivated and dependable, and able to inspire students to strive for excellence. A grandparent notes that the school hosted a great birthday party for a grandson, and another parent highlights that classes are both educational and fun and mentions the availability of parent’s nights out and special parties.
