Rising Star Martial Arts

Rising Star Martial Arts offers Kids Classes for ages 5-12, Teen/Adult Classes for ages 13 and up, Cardio Combat, and Competition Team. The facility hours are Tuesday 7:30 pm–9:00 pm, Thursday 7:30 pm–9:00 pm, Friday 6:00 pm–9:00 pm, and Saturday 8:30 am–10:00 am.

About the provider

The history text says Mu-Gil Lee started Taekwondo in the early 1950s, opened the first Korean martial arts school in Bloomington, Indiana in the early 1970s, helped Dexter and Patty Grove open Rising Star in Dyer, Indiana in 1983, and that Rising Star II in Portage, Indiana was established in 2008. It also says Master Dylan Gluszek began teaching out of another martial arts school in Highland, Indiana in July 2025. The page says Rising Star Martial Arts is Partners in Parenting and that once a person joins any Rising Star program, they become part of the family.

The program page says the school is Partners in Parenting, teaches the same values taught at home, and fosters a positive, safe and controlled environment. The teen/adult page says the adult classes are curriculum based and include flexibility, stamina, overall physical and mental health, and useful self-defense skills.
