About

E3 Basketball Academy offers elite basketball training along with sports performance training, personal and group training, Zoom workouts, yoga, and VertiMax workouts. The program also includes strength and conditioning programming, recovery programming, basketball camps, seasonal leagues, AAU teams, weekly tournament play, team practices, individual workouts, and semi-private workouts.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Holiday hours include Monday, Dec 19 open 5:30–7:30 pm, closed from Tuesday, Dec 20 through Jan 1, and Monday, Jan 2 open 5:30–7:30 pm; ongoing Thursday sessions run 6–7 pm at Sportszone for boys and girls in grades K–12.

Through E3 Basketball Academy, founder and operator Eric Gordon Sr continues his stated mission of helping athletes improve, grow, and reach their full potential. He graduated from Liberty University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science and Business Administration with a minor in Religion, worked more than 30 years in the pharmaceutical industry as a sales representative and regional sales manager, and has dedicated more than 30 years to coaching youth basketball throughout Central Indiana. President Eron Gordon played two years at Seton Hall University and four years at Valparaiso University, was drafted into the NBA G League in 2022, has represented the Bahamas National Team, has served as a team assistant for the Indiana Fever, has spent the past three years as a trainer with E3 Basketball Academy, has hosted more than 40 basketball camps across the country, and serves on the advisory board of AAU. Trainer Jessica Willock has been an integral part of E3 Basketball Academy for more than 10 years, leads strength and conditioning and recovery programming, brings more than 20 years of experience working with youth in facilities including the YMCA and other youth-centered programs, and served as the Head Trainer for the Indianapolis Wolves Women’s Professional Basketball Team.

E3 Basketball Academy includes yoga as part of the skills athletes are learning and offers Zoom workouts as part of its training options. Its strength and conditioning and recovery programming is focused on younger athletes from kindergarten through middle school, with an emphasis on proper movement, mobility, balance, body control, injury prevention, and functional strength. New players in the E3 Academy League or AAU teams receive a uniform to keep, with delivery in approximately three to four weeks.

E3 Basketball Academy has partnered with basketball programs from China and Brazil and is known locally in Central Indiana and internationally. Eric Gordon Sr has coached youth basketball throughout Central Indiana, including at Municipal Gardens, Rim Rattlers, Jewish Community Center, and Panther Youth Basketball. Eron Gordon is the founder of the Indianapolis Wolves Women’s Professional Basketball Team, which competes in the New Vision Women’s Basketball Circuit, and he is also the founder of the Eron Gordon Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth through basketball, education, and mentorship. The program states that it considers the kids and families it works with as family and notes a commitment to helping athletes excel on and off the court as well as in life.

Eric Gordon Sr earned All Marion County honors in consecutive seasons in high school, along with All Sectional, All Regional, All Semi State, and All State recognition, and at Liberty University he averaged 18.9 points per game, earned the Mr. Clutch honor three consecutive years, and finished second in team MVP voting for two straight seasons in the Mason Dixon Athletic Conference. In 2022, Eron Gordon was drafted into the NBA G League.

Parent feedback about E3 Basketball Academy includes comments that group workouts help with a child’s skill development, that noon Zoom sessions provide a helpful break in a school day, and that yoga is included in the skills being learned. Parents have also noted visible improvement in a child’s shooting and overall game and have described the Zoom workouts as easing the impact of social distancing.
