About
Indianapolis Art Center Youth Classes and Camps take place in a 40,000 square foot art center building that functions as a piece of public art and includes access to ARTSPARK, a 9.5-acre outdoor creativity and sculpture garden with green space, trails, and a canoe launch. The program is part of a larger organization that offers hundreds of classes and camps every year and hosts more than a dozen contemporary art exhibitions in six galleries each year.
• Schedule: General hours of operation are Monday–Friday 9 am–10 pm, Saturday 9 am–6 pm, and Sunday 12 pm–6 pm, with in-between semester hours from May 13–June 7 of Monday–Saturday 9 am–6 pm and Sunday 12 pm–6 pm.
The Indianapolis Art Center began in 1934 with studios over garages, was incorporated as the Indianapolis Art League Foundation in 1961, moved to Broad Ripple Village in 1976, changed its name to the Indianapolis Art Center in 1994, and opened ARTSPARK in 2005. As of 2024, the Indianapolis Art Center remains a cultural destination and a part of Indianapolis’ cultural identity. The organization’s mission is to provide accessible and inclusive art experiences that inspire creativity, educate, engage, and enrich the community. As a nonprofit, it offers hundreds of classes and camps each year, more than a dozen contemporary art exhibitions in six galleries, an outreach program that takes art into underserved communities, and the OneAmerica Broad Ripple Art Fair, and it partners with several arts, culture, and community organizations in central Indiana.
