About
Indy Phoenix FC is a travel soccer club where players take part in league play, tournaments, tryouts, uniform ordering, fundraising, and community service. Teams compete in travel soccer and the club limits out of state tournaments, with teams generally not playing out of state until they have beaten all of their local competition. Indy Phoenix FC is 100% volunteer run, and all coaches and administrators are volunteers.

For over 30 years, co-founders Jerry Little and Dan Kapsalis have coached youth soccer, and in 2013 they founded this youth travel soccer club in Indianapolis, originally named “Millennium Indy” until the summer of 2020. The mission of Indy Phoenix FC is to create an environment that is both physically and mentally challenging, that stimulates soccer players to reach their highest potential both on and off the field, and is low cost so that all athletes who are good enough to make the teams can afford to join, no matter their family’s financial situation. The club describes itself as Indianapolis' low-cost, elite travel soccer club for boys, built by families for families, players, and especially young men, and created to be inclusive, serving all competitive players, including those who cannot afford to play. Eliminating the financial barrier is described as having created an environment of high achievement through socioeconomic and ethnic diversity, with development, character, and competition available to all.
Coaches are former top soccer players who dedicate their time because they love the game, and each coach expects a high level of academic performance from every player, with grades reviewed on a quarterly basis. The club states that it is missionally rooted in the idea that every player deserves the chance to grow, compete, and belong in the game of soccer, and that it is a club where opportunity comes first and soccer is available for every committed player. Teams compete at the highest levels in competitive club soccer, and Indy Phoenix FC provides 4 tournaments a year (2 fall, 2 spring) for all teams through U13, and 3 tournaments a year for U14–U19, including 1 post–high school event such as college showcases. Indy Phoenix FC also provides State, President, Challenge, and Memorial Cup fees, referee fees, state player fees, state league fees, and Great Lakes Conference league and referee fees.
Fundraising is shared by the board, coaches, parents, and players and supported by the local community to help fund the club. Every year, each player is expected to complete at least 10 hours of community service targeting people and organizations that are in need, with an example from 2007 of volunteering at Anna's House food pantry. The club states that it values grace and honor through competition and that it instills respect for teammates, opponents, coaches, fans, the game, and the players themselves.
Important age group changes for the 2026–2027 season include US Soccer’s transition in Indiana from a calendar-year model (January 1–December 31) to a school-year model (August 1–July 31), and players must register and attend tryouts based on their birthdate using the August 1 cutoff date. An example given is that a player born in October 2015 will try out for the U11 team for the 2026–2027 season. Uniform ordering is open for new Indy Phoenix FC players at indyphoenixfc.com/uniform, using Group Code IP24, and uniforms are worn for 2 years, with all other accessories such as warm-ups being optional and offered at the same discount as uniforms. Former club member Tyler Murphy is an All American at Trine University.
