About
IRT Theatre Summer Camp offers introductory classes that provide foundations for the arts and specialties to further develop theatre skills, including acting, musical theatre, costume design, theatre history, scenic design, script analysis, monologues, focused scene work, storytelling, songs, art, and teamwork. Campers take part in activities such as improv, stand-up, farce, creating characters, timing, delivering a punchline, memorizing lines, learning basic staging, movement tools, dance, yoga, warm-ups, extended rehearsal time, singing new group songs, learning choreography, and learning musical theatre history through the celebration and performance of classic and contemporary musicals. All personal electronic devices are securely stored until the end of each day, making the workshops tech-free zones for campers.
• Ages: 5–17 years old
• Schedule: Most camps run for one week, Monday–Friday, with a daily schedule of 9 AM–4:30 PM; the Two Week Advanced Acting Intensive runs for two weeks, Monday–Friday, and the Mini Camp runs for one week, Monday–Friday, 9 AM–12 PM.
• Price: Price is $350 per camp, $175 for Mini Camp, and $700 for the two-week camp, with a $25 discount per camp for children attending multiple camps, workshops, or siblings attending the same camp ($15 for Mini Camp), and financial aid available.

The program includes camps for grades K–12, including options for students new to theatre and for young actors with more experience, such as a Two Week Advanced Acting Intensive that culminates in a performance that will cap off the entire summer of workshops and a Mini Camp titled “Where the Sidewalk Ends: The Poetry and Play of Shel Silverstein.” This camp is welcoming to all genders, races, and abilities.
The Indiana Repertory Theatre, founded in 1972, leads this program under Margot Lacy Eccles Artistic Director Benjamin Hanna and Managing Director Suzanne Sweeney. It is Indiana’s flagship LORT theatre and offers student matinees for all of its productions through the Christel DeHaan Student Matinee Program. The organization is committed to building a vital, vibrant and informed community through the transformational power of live theatre. One parent, Kelly D., notes having experienced at least 20 different shows at the Indiana Repertory Theatre, including farce comedies and dramatic episodes, and describes each performance as memorable in its own way.
