Jeanie Gensheimer Martial Arts offers Shorei Goju Ryu Karate, karate classes, private lessons, competition training, and karate and gymnastics summer camps. Karate classes are open to both adults and children ages 6 and up, and families are allowed and encouraged to train together. Every student starts as a beginner with a white belt and then works through the belt ranks.
• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Schedule: Classes offered three times a week with separate time blocks for white–blue belts, blue–black belts, and black belts
Classes are offered three times a week, and students may choose how many days they attend. The program includes a weapons rotation throughout the year: January/February features Bo with advanced weapon Eku; March/April features Chucks with advanced weapon Kama; May/June features Tonfa with advanced weapon Sai; July/August repeats Bo with advanced weapon Eku; September/October repeats Chucks with advanced weapon Kama; and November/December repeats Tonfa with advanced weapon Sai. Summer camps include karate and gymnastics camps taught at The Orchard School, the Sycamore School, Park Tudor, and the Riviera Club. The mission of the classes is to help students develop their skills and confidence and to achieve their personal goals. The program also teaches karate classes at Indianapolis area public and private schools.
