Arts for Lawrence Youth Programs are part of Arts for Lawrence, founded in 2006. Arts for Lawrence connects arts and community to inspire everyone every day and is the largest performing and visual arts nonprofit organization in Lawrence and the northeast quadrant of Indianapolis. Arts for Lawrence builds partnerships to bring a diverse blend of performances in drama, music, dance, storytelling, and more, and many of these events are free to the public. Arts for Lawrence recognizes that privilege and access to the arts are unequal and breaks barriers to ensure that everyone has access to a vibrant and creative life, and offers Art Aid for those who would like to attend a program but cannot. Lawrence is a vibrant Cultural District as designated by the State of Indiana, and the Fort Ben Cultural Campus is described as the hottest arts and cultural destination in Central Indiana. The former Fort Harrison Communications building was moved to the Cultural Campus and repurposed as a Visual Art Center with a gallery featuring monthly exhibitions, a ceramics studio offering classes for all ages and abilities, and an upstairs classroom with additional art classes. The Fort Ben Cultural Campus is also home to the Musical Swings, which are open to the public with music playing daily from 9 AM to 10 PM.
