OVO Head Start is part of Ohio Valley Opportunities, Inc., a Community Action Agency formed on October 11, 1965 in Madison, Indiana. The program is one of OVO’s services that provides free comprehensive preschool services as part of its work with low-income individuals and families.

Ohio Valley Opportunities, Inc. operates OVO Head Start within its broader mission of opening doors through individualized, comprehensive services and community partnerships that empower low-income individuals and families to improve their quality of life. OVO is a Community Action Agency that utilizes the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) to support programming and services that help low-income individuals increase self-sufficiency, improve living conditions, gain ownership of and pride in their communities, and build strong family and support systems. OVO collaborates with nearly 100 community agencies, local elected officials, community-based partners, and stakeholders.
One Head Start parent reported that OVO Head Start helped them teach their child about good manners and eating a healthier diet, and that they were glad they chose OVO Head Start for preschool. Another Head Start parent stated that the staff at the Madison OVO Head Start are “amazing” and that they felt blessed to have their child educated there. A Head Start parent also shared that they appreciate all of OVO’s staff and that everyone is always courteous, friendly, and helpful.
