Sylvan Learning of Columbus and Seymour Tutoring Programs at Jackson County Learning Center offers on-site and virtual tutoring programs for math, algebra, reading, writing, and study skills. The program also offers individual SAT test prep and individual ACT test prep with a team of college-readiness experts and certified teachers. Sylvan uses interactive technology so children feel fully engaged and get the exact learning they need.
JCLC officially opened on August 4, 2010, and its mission is to provide necessary educational and workforce support services for community members and foster an atmosphere of lifelong learning and career development. JCLC partners with local and regional education providers to offer on-site and virtual adult education, tutoring, and lifelong learning classes, including Sylvan Learning of Columbus-Seymour. Its facility programming partners also include McDowell Education Center, Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus, Indiana University Columbus, Read Jackson County, Vincennes University, LEAF (Learning Enrichment And Fun) of Jackson County, and WorkOne Southeast. The Jackson County Learning Center leadership team includes Director Amy Heideman and Administrative Assistant Rhea Speckner. JCLC also offers free test proctoring for online classes, provides computer labs for online class access and study sessions, and offers classroom and meeting room rental for business training and workshops.
