Jackson County Learning Center Tutoring and Enrichment Programs includes Sylvan Learning of Columbus and Seymour tutoring programs and LEAF (Learning Enrichment And Fun) of Jackson County workshops. The tutoring programs cover math, algebra, reading, writing, study skills, and SAT and ACT test prep, and they are offered on-site and virtual. The workshops include Beginning Spanish, Basic Computer Skills, Resume Writing and Interview Skills, and Zoom Basics.

About the provider

Jackson County Learning Center (JCLC) officially opened on August 4, 2010. JCLC is led by Amy Heideman, JCLC Director, and Rhea Speckner, Administrative Assistant. Its mission is to provide educational and workforce support services for community members and to foster lifelong learning and career development. JCLC partners with local and regional education providers to offer on-site and virtual adult education, tutoring, and lifelong learning classes, and it was created through a private and public partnership between The Community Foundation of Jackson County, the City of Seymour, and the Chamber of Commerce.

• Sylvan Learning of Columbus and Seymour tutoring programs — k-12 and college level students; teens for individual SAT and ACT test prep · on-site and virtual · Offers tutoring in math, algebra, reading, writing, study skills and more; also college-readiness SAT and ACT test prep.
• LEAF (Learning Enrichment And Fun) of Jackson County workshops — Basic workshops including Beginning Spanish, Basic Computer Skills, Resume Writing and Interview Skills, and Zoom Basics.

Classes are free for McDowell Education Center HSE and ELL offerings. New students must register to attend a New Student Orientation session for ELL classes. HSE classes do not run in June and July for summer break.
