Valparaiso Family YMCA Preschool & Pre-K includes activities in language arts, handwriting, math concepts, science, social and emotional awareness, music, visual arts, and large and small muscle development. Children in the program also participate in Swim Time, use a multipurpose facility and playground, and may have access to a splash pad, fitness classes, and more gym time. The program offers both Morning Pre-K and Afternoon Pre-K options, as well as walking field trips and activities focused on motor skill development.

• Price: Full Day: Ages 3–5 | $195 per week for members, $215 for non-members; Half Day: Age 3 T/Th (9–11:30 am) | $170 per month for members, $205 for non-members; Half Day: Age 4 M/W/F (9–11:30 am) | $195 per month for members, $220 for non-members; Half Day: Pre-K M–F (12:30–3 pm) | $245 per month for members, $270 for non-members; Little Angels Learning Center Full Time Full Day: $195 per week for members, $215 for non-members.

The program is part of a high quality staff registered ministry and operates as a HEPA Facility. The YMCA states that children engage in healthy eating and physical activity 30–60 minutes per day, and that fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grain snacks are provided. The program notes that children are encouraged to make healthy choices both at the YMCA and at home, and that Little Angels Learning Center has the capacity to accommodate up to 99 children and offers wraparound services. Classrooms are described as spacious with areas dedicated to motor skill development and an inviting outdoor courtyard for exploration and play, and 10:1 ratios are upheld in all classrooms, with a 1:5 ratio for toddlers.

The Valparaiso Family YMCA lists its mission as being a charitable non-profit organization that improves the quality of life in its communities through programs and services that strengthen the spirit, mind, and body for all. The YMCA history includes its founding on June 6, 1844, the Y Movement reaching the United States by 1851, the first YMCA in Porter County on the Valparaiso University campus between 1896–1923, a Porter County YMCA charter issued in 1951, and later facility milestones including a new facility opening in 2009, a pavilion ribbon cutting in 2012, an Integrated Health Wing opening in 2017, and the grand opening of Little Angels Learning Center in August 2023. St. Mary Medical Center provides physical therapy services at the Y for patients in the community.

The leadership team connected with the YMCA includes Melanie Hoffman, Childcare Director, and Audrey Sheehan, Assistant Director of Childcare, along with other listed leaders such as the CEO, directors of program development, finance, aquatics, development, human resources, marketing, membership, sports, and wellness. Families are informed that each child must bring a nut-free lunch, a spare set of clothes, and a small blanket and pillow for nap, and that all paperwork is due the Wednesday prior to the week of care. Program details also state that all children 3 and above must be potty trained, everyone must have a physical and immunizations prior to start, breakfast is provided from 7–7:30 am, and children must be in the classroom by 9:30 am.
