About the provider

Kentucky Virtual Academy has served grades K-12 since 2023. It is powered by K12 and uses fully state-certified teachers. Students can connect with peers through virtual games in an online hang-out zone, and in-person opportunities include gatherings throughout the state, field trips, prom, and graduation.

Enrollment eligibility requires students to have passed with a 65% or higher in the previous school year and not be truant. Students in grades K–12 who reside in Kentucky are eligible for full-time enrollment. KYVA follows applicable state laws and requirements for attendance with 180 instructional days. A parent or Learning Coach logs attendance daily. Students should remain enrolled in their current school while the application is processed and approved.

What families say

“KYVA helped my son tremendously! I get daily emails as well as weekly check-ins. The daily schedule has meeting times and assignments to complete. If you are expecting to sit your kid in front of the computer all day, then this isn’t for you. For children with disabilities or social awkwardness/anxiety, this has been a game changer. We have a positive experience and would highly recommend it.” — Jackie 2025 Learning Coach

“In my family, we move a lot. If I was to attend in-person public school, I would have to be placed in a new school environment every semester. KYVA has helped me stay mentally sane, by allowing me to be myself. I am forever grateful for the teachers, counselors, and other staff members who work diligently to make things happen. I am excited for my future, and I owe part of that to KYVA.” — 2024 student

“I chose Kentucky Virtual Academy because of the flexibility it offers to learn at my own pace, adapting to my other responsibilities.” — 2024 student
