Programs & Events includes Art Studio, Film Screenings, and Storytime. Art Studio invites children to explore new materials and make art together, with an Everyday Art Project inspired by the current exhibition. Film Screenings show short films, including animated picture book stories and family-friendly documentaries about illustrators, and Storytime includes moving, singing, playing, and learning about the art and design of picture books.

  • Art Studio — All ages are welcome · Explore new materials and make art together in the light-filled Art Studio. Daily Happenings; create an Everyday Art Project inspired by the current exhibition.
  • Film Screenings — Watch short films in the Auditorium, including animated versions of picture book stories and family-friendly documentaries about illustrators. Several different films are shown each day.
  • Storytime — 11am Wednesday through Friday; 11am and 2pm on Saturdays; 2pm on Sundays · Move, sing, play, and learn about the art and design of picture books.
  • Special Events — Calendar of special upcoming programs and events.
  • Word Play with The Center Dance Studio — Fri Sep 4, 11am - 12pm · Bring your dancing feet for creative movement inspired by picture books.
  • Open Book, Open Play — Fri Sep 11, 11 - 11:45am · Move, sing, talk, and explore materials during this interactive storytime for early learners.
  • Yoga for Kids! — Children ages 3-6 · Sat Sep 12, 10:15 - 10:45am · Children ages 3-6 will explore movement and fun inspired by picture books.
  • Story Chasers — Fri Sep 25, 11 - 11:45am · Embark on a storytelling adventure across the museum.
  • Special Storytime with Kari Percival — Sat Sep 26, 2 - 2:45pm · Celebrate autumn as Kari Percival shares her new book Fall Day All Day.
  • Members' Celebration of Eric Carle's Modernist Inspirations — Sat Oct 3, 5:30 - 8pm · Celebrate with hors d’oeuvres and live music.
  • Special Storytime: Lauren Stohler — Sat Oct 10, 11 - 11:30am · Join author-artist Lauren Stohler for a reading of The Crown: an Epic Tale of Fools, Fate, and Fish Butts, followed by a voting activity, draw-along, or decorating a ballot box.
  • Special Storytime with Carrie Anne Vanderhoop: Sharing Gratitude for the Seasons — Sat Oct 10, 2 - 2:30pm · Carrie Anne Vanderhoop shares her book Wôpanâak Seasons.
