Berklee Summer Programs offers study in music, theater, dance, production, songwriting, opera, and music business. The programs are part of Berklee, whose mission is to educate, train, and develop students to excel in music as a career. Berklee offers programs for students in middle school, high school, college, and beyond.
Berklee includes Berklee College of Music, Boston Conservatory at Berklee, Berklee Online, Berklee Valencia, and Berklee NYC. Boston Conservatory was founded in 1867, Berklee College of Music opened in 1945, Berklee Valencia was founded in 2012, and Berklee NYC was created in 2017. Boston Conservatory and Berklee College of Music joined forces in 2016. Berklee is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education. The Hollywood Reporter ranked Berklee as one of the top five best music schools in 2022 and 2023, and among the top 20 music schools for composing for film and TV in 2021 and 2020. Billboard has featured Berklee on its list of “Top Music Business Schools” in six of the past seven years, highlighting Berklee Valencia in 2022 and 2023. Newsweek ranked Berklee College of Music as third among all U.S. colleges that offer an exceptional artistic atmosphere. The Luxonomist ranked Berklee’s campuses in Boston and Valencia as the top two music colleges in the world. Boston Conservatory at Berklee has been recognized on lists such as “Best College Dance Programs in the U.S.” (DanceUS, 2019–2023), “10 College Dance Programs You Should Know” (Backstage, 2023), “Five of the Best Music Education Schools in the U.S.” (Careers in Music, 2019), and the “Top 10 Most-Represented Colleges on Broadway” (Playbill, 2023, 2022, 2019, 2018, and 2017).
Berklee Online is described as the world’s largest online music education system, offering undergraduate and graduate degrees and certificate programs that serve musicians from more than 150 countries, and it allows students to study at their own pace for 60 percent less than the cost of on-campus tuition. Berklee Valencia offers four master’s degree programs, study abroad, and summer programs, and Berklee NYC offers a one-year master’s degree program with three specializations, along with musical programming and visual capture in 360-degree cinematic virtual reality. Berklee’s YouTube channel has more than 400 million views and over 1.6 million subscribers, and is described as the most viewed college or university channel in the world.
Through Berklee City Music, Berklee has provided educational opportunities for talented youth in underserved communities for over 30 years, with partners in cities across America and abroad, reaching more than 53,000 students each year. Through a partnership with the New York City Department of Education, Berklee City Music brings music programs to more than 1,800 public schools. Berklee Summer Programs also has a Help Center that offers information about programs, housing, and health and wellness services.
