Thayer Summer Sports Camps offers basketball, field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, and a Lax & Crafts coed youth lacrosse option that includes arts and crafts and hands-on crafts. Lax & Crafts afternoons are spent in Thayer Academy’s state-of-the-art visual arts studio.

• Ages: 4–14 years old
• Schedule: Sports camps run Monday through Thursday throughout the summer, with week-long sessions such as July 6–9, July 13–16, and July 20–23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Price: Cost is $535 per week for Field Hockey, Boys Lacrosse, and Lax & Crafts - Coed Youth Lacrosse.

Thayer Summer Sports Camps are offered for students entering grades 3–9 and focus on skill development within a positive and engaging environment. The Thayer Field Hockey Camp is dedicated to teaching and refining the fundamental and tactical skills that form the foundation of field hockey, with a stated goal to inspire and nurture a lifelong love for field hockey in every player. Thayer Boys Lacrosse Camp teaches a wide range of skills and drills to develop athletes while growing their knowledge and experience of the game. Lax & Crafts aims to develop essential lacrosse skills in a supportive, fun environment while building teamwork, sportsmanship, and confidence, and blends the excitement of lacrosse with the creativity of arts and crafts.

Field Hockey is led by coaches and players with Division I and III college-level experience. Lax & Crafts is led under the guidance of Thayer’s All-American athletes and expert teachers and coaches. The leadership team includes Ian Wheeler (Program Director and Manager of Auxiliary Services); William “Bill” Daye (Head Coach – Varsity Boys Lacrosse and Thayer Academy Boys Head Lacrosse Coach); Suzanne Akerson (Middle School 6th Grade and English Faculty, Head Coach – Varsity Field Hockey); Paul Turner (Coaching Staff); Anni Zukauskas (Upper School Visual Arts and New Media Department Head, Head Coach – Girls’ Varsity Lacrosse and Thayer Girls Lacrosse Head Coach); and Suzanne Noone (Thayer Academy Head Field Hockey Coach). Thayer Academy has offered the Lax & Crafts camp for over 20 years and has been an independent, coeducational day school for grades 5–12 since 1877, with a robust athletics program that includes 72 teams across divisions and 25 varsity teams competing in the ISL and NEPSAC.

Registration for Thayer Summer Sports Camps is accepted on a rolling basis throughout the duration of the program, and for priority consideration, registration and medical forms should be submitted by June 15. Each camp requires specific equipment, and coaches provide a detailed list. For all camps, students are provided both lunch and snack daily. Medical information, including a complete physical and immunization record with a physical exam date within 18 months prior to attendance, must be provided, and medical forms must be completed and submitted by June 1, 2026. For medications, a Medication Authorization Form must be completed and signed by the parent or guardian for each medication, and medications must be delivered directly to the Thayer Sports Camps nurse on or before the first day of the program in the original prescription container with the prescription label noting the exact dose; the camp nurse can be reached at [email protected] or 781.664.2234.

Field Hockey campers need a field hockey stick, shin guards, mouth guard, goggles (optional), shorts and T-shirt, sunscreen, water bottle, and sneakers, with turf shoes optional but sneakers needed daily. Boys Lacrosse campers need a water bottle, shorts and T-shirt, sneakers that are not black-soled, lunch (with refrigeration provided), lacrosse stick, helmet, gloves, mouth guard, shoulder pads, sunscreen, and sneakers, with turf shoes optional but sneakers needed daily. Lax & Crafts campers need a lacrosse stick, goggles, mouth guard, shorts and T-shirt, sunscreen, water bottle, and sneakers, with turf shoes optional but sneakers needed daily. The program notes, “Train like a Tiger this summer so you can roar during the season.”
