• Ages: 7–15 years old
The camp’s mission is to combine performing and visual arts with the fun of a traditional summer camp for girls ages 7–15. The Berkshire Lake Experience emphasizes boundless space for creative exploration and meaningful skill development, along with freedom, support, and encouragement for each girl to explore what interests her. The mission also includes fostering a warm and welcoming sisterhood where girls feel safe, supported, and empowered to be their authentic selves creatively, socially, and emotionally, and where stepping out of comfort zones, trying new things, and being away from home are part of the experience.
The leadership team includes Mandi, the director. The camp’s passionate and dedicated team of directors has over 50 years of combined camp experience. Berkshire Lake Arts Camp complies with regulations of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and is licensed by the local Board of Health. The program has a small size, an intimate site, and a high counselor-to-camper ratio of 1:3, and it describes its community as diverse and intentionally built. The camp property is not shared with any other programs, and campers have access to all facilities at all times.
Parent and camper testimonials describe staff as warm and caring, and mention that campers enjoyed activities such as hip hop dance, made friends, and appreciated the balance of dancing and traditional summer camp activities. Several parents and campers report that they plan to return and describe positive experiences with counselors, cabins, grounds, food, and communication with the director.
