About
Hudson Recreation Youth Basketball offers instructional youth basketball programs that include age-appropriate drills, fun games, regulation games, and Unified Basketball. Kindergarten and Grade 1 participants meet for a 50-minute clinic on Saturdays that focuses on these activities over multiple weeks.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: All programs run between November 17th and February 14th; Kindergarten & Grade 1 clinics meet once a week on Saturdays for 50 minutes over 8 weeks
These grade-based programs are intended to promote the fundamentals of basketball, but more importantly fun and exercise. All basketball programs are open to Hudson residents and children who attend Hudson Public Schools. Boys Grade 2 introduces players to game situations on an 8-foot basket, while Girls Grades 2–4 and Boys Grades 3–4 play regulation games on a 9-foot basket with a scorekeeper and a certified referee. Starting with the 2025–2026 basketball season, Boys and Girls Grades 5–6 and Boys and Girls Grades 7–8 divisions will participate in the Nashoba Youth Basketball League (NYBL). Unified programs are open to children and young adults and are designed for participants who may not thrive in a traditional sports-team or league setting. Hudson Recreation Unified Programs are intended to foster physical activity, independence, self-confidence, and teamwork. The success of the programs is attributed in large part to the commitment of staff and volunteers.
