About

Assabet Community Education Summer Youth Programs are part of Assabet Community Education, which also includes After Dark Enrichment Programs, Assabet Technical Institute, and a Practical Nursing Program. Within the broader Assabet system, students choose a technical program in which to specialize after completing exploratory experiences in a variety of areas, and time in school is divided between technical programs and a rigorous academic schedule.

• Schedule: High school hours run Monday–Friday, 7:25 AM–2:30 PM, and ACE hours run Monday–Thursday, 8:00 AM–11:00 PM, and Friday, 8:00 AM–3:00 PM.

Since the school opened in September 1973, its programs have changed significantly with contributions from community industry leaders and craftspersons serving as program advisory committee members. The Assabet Valley Regional Vocational School District includes the Assabet Valley Regional Technical/Vocational High School for secondary career and technical education and Assabet Community Education, which includes the Summer Youth Programs. The district serves the towns of Berlin, Hudson, Maynard, Northborough, Southborough, and Westborough along with the city of Marlborough, and neighboring communities send students on a tuition basis. Assabet is fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). The mission of Assabet is to provide a rigorous and relevant education in a safe and secure environment resulting in academic, career, and technical proficiency. The leadership team connected to school operations includes Maria Barney, Administrative Assistant to the Principal; Kelly Sommerville, Attendance Clerk; Rebecca Rezende, Executive Assistant to the Superintendent-Director; and Mary Ann Figueroa, School Events Scheduling & Facilities Rentals. The Assabet Valley community is located along the Route 495 corridor, sometimes described as the unofficial socioeconomic border of Eastern and Central Massachusetts, with major routes 495 and 290 intersecting two miles away and providing access to Worcester in about 20 minutes and Boston in about 50 minutes.
