About
The Nantucket Community Music Center offers music programs that include the Nantucket Island Youth Orchestra (NIYO), a Rock Band Program, private lessons, and community concerts. The Nantucket Island Youth Orchestra is an after-school program that provides free instruments and instruction to Nantucket’s youth. The Rock Band Program brings aspiring musicians together to collaborate, create, and perform, and the center also provides access to a Recording Studio.

The Nantucket Community Music Center is celebrating 50 years of music education on Nantucket, with five decades of private lessons and community concerts. Its mission is to enrich the cultural life of the island by fostering and supporting music education and performance opportunities for young people and adults, with a belief that music has the power to transform individuals and the island as a whole, and a vision of a community with access to teaching, learning, and performing music. The organization’s leadership includes Executive Director Tony Wagner and a Board of Trustees led by President Rich Jaycobs, along with officers, trustees, an Advisory Council, and emerita roles such as President Emerita Deborah Beale, Trustee Emerita Eva-Maria Tausig, Artistic Director Emerita Mollie Glazer, and Faculty Emerita Dr. Jennifer Maxwell. The Nantucket Community Music Center has been at the heart of Nantucket’s music scene for five decades and notes its gratitude for the support of the community and partner organizations.
