Beginners in swimming receive 1:1 attention.

• Ages: 3–14 years old

Since 1965, Maplewood has operated as Maplewood Country Day Camp and Enrichment Center Inc., and over 30,000 children have learned to swim there in that time. The program includes a Preschool & Kindergarten Camp for ages 3–5, a 1st–9th Grade Summer Camp, and a Teen Leadership Counselor in Training (C.I.T.) program. Maplewood also offers an Indoor/Outdoor Playground for children 6 years and younger, which includes many activities, events, special guests, and character visits, as well as birthday parties that feature a visit from the child’s favorite character. The mission of Maplewood is to create a warm, welcoming, creative environment year-round that makes everyone feel like family.

The owner, Lee, is on-site and has over 30 years of experience teaching swimming. Drivers and bus monitors undergo background checks and are trained in safety, first aid, and behavior management. The program offers free bus service with easy pick-up and drop-off at over 50 locations around Easton, and the bus ride includes activities that build friendships and camp spirit. Maplewood also runs a Vacation Program during February and April vacation weeks and serves families from the Greater Boston area and Rhode Island, including nearby towns such as Easton, Sharon, Mansfield, Norton, Canton, Stoughton, Bridgewater, Raynham, Taunton, Foxboro, Brockton, Walpole, Middleboro, Franklin, Wrentham, and Plainville.

Parent feedback describes children enjoying a wide range of camp activities and new games, as well as daily swimming. Several parents report that their children made noticeable swimming progress, including becoming comfortable in the deep end, treading water, and swimming confidently. Parents also mention children developing new interests in archery and dance, and refer to specific staff such as swim instructors, lifeguards, counselors, nurses, and support staff by name. Multiple parents note experiences related to allergies and Type 1 diabetes management, communication from staff, and children talking about returning to Maplewood for future summers.
