The Cultural Center of Cape Cod was founded in 2001 and officially opened as a nonprofit organization in 2007. Its guiding principle is “All the Arts for All of Us,” and it aims to cultivate curiosity, creativity, and cultural exploration through inclusive and accessible programs across visual, culinary, literary, and performing arts. The leadership team includes Founding Executive Director Robert Nash, Executive Director Molly Demeulenaere, a Board of Trustees, and a Director of Learning, and Molly Demeulenaere is described as a seasoned museum executive.

The Center has received an Adaptive Reuse Award from the Massachusetts Historical Commission, a Community Impact Award from the Town of Yarmouth, a Four-Star Rating from Charity Navigator, and a 2025 Gold Seal of Transparency on GuideStar. Strategic community partnerships and grassroots fundraising helped establish the Center, and funding support has come from the Town of Yarmouth Community Preservation Fund and the Cultural Facilities Fund. Community involvement includes the Rise and Shine program for at-risk youth, seniors, and individuals with special needs, work addressing local challenges such as poverty, substance abuse, and juvenile crime, partnerships with Museums for All and Mass Cultural Council’s Card to Culture for free gallery and concert access for individuals and families with financial constraints, and an international artist-in-residence program in partnership with Open Society Foundations.

The program includes a year-round interactive children's art museum in Hyannis called the ART BARN and offers inclusive spaces that cultivate curiosity, creativity, and cultural exploration through exhibition, arts education and life-long learning, music, and events. It is a BYOB center where visitors may bring their own beverage to concerts. Accessibility features include an elevator and ramps for visitors with limited mobility and wheelchairs available on a first-come, first-served basis. Visitors are welcome to draw in the galleries using pencil only, and flash photography, tripods, and selfie sticks are not permitted. The Center asks visitors not to touch, climb, sit on, kick, hit, or lick the art, does not allow smoking or vaping, and always welcomes service animals as defined by the ADA. School groups of ten or more must schedule by contacting the Director of Learning.
