Duck Soup Kids’ Cooking Classes offers kids’ cooking classes inside Duck Soup, a general store that also serves up cooking classes. The program takes place in a quirky, indefinable neighborhood institution that is not quite a coffee shop, not quite a cheese shop, not quite a kitchen shop, and not quite a gift shop, and that specializes in “a little bit of everything.”
• Schedule: Hours are 9.30 am–6 pm Monday–Saturday and 12 pm–5 pm Sunday, with closure on Monday 26th due to snow.
The doors of Duck Soup first opened in 1971, and it is one of the longest continuously operating retail stores in Sudbury. Duck Soup is a general store with thousands of products available for sale and specializes in custom gift baskets. It now has a package store liquor license and has a sister company, the Sky Bar Candy Co., which manufactures the original 1938 Sky Bar and makes the former NECCO Sky Bar candy at its facility next door. The stated mission is to be a place where everyone is welcome and customers become friends. Duck Soup also acquired the Kiff brand of baked products on April 10, 2017.
