Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro North has been operating since 1973 and was formerly known as the Boys & Girls Club of Stoneham & Wakefield. The organization states that it provides safe, supportive spaces where kids and teens build confidence, connect with mentors, and discover what they love, and that it serves families of every background, welcoming and supporting all youth regardless of race, ability, gender identity, or family structure. It provides after school and summer spaces for over 6,000 youth each year, with nearly 500 youth visiting the Clubs each day, and notes that programs are made affordable through the generosity of donors and partners. The organization is a proud affiliate of Boys & Girls Clubs of America and lives by the mission of doing whatever it takes to help kids and teens build great futures. It participates in the Summer Food Service to provide free lunches in the summer and is seeking local community volunteers with professional experience in Marketing, Human Resources, and IT, and programs are available at Stoneham, Wakefield, and Saugus locations. The leadership team includes CEO John Shagoury and former CEO Adam Rodgers. The organization notes that email is the best way to reach them for general questions, program inquiries, and requests. One member, Amaia, shared that she experienced empathy and care from staff when her mother worked late and when she felt sad.
