Rosemarie Morelli is a professional artist and instructor dedicated full-time to teaching children, teens, and adults how to paint and draw, with an emphasis on “enjoying the learning process!” Relaxed-structured classes allow students to work on the main project of their choosing at their own speed, with an emphasis on learning fundamentals for seeing and rendering the 3D form, shape correction, color mixing, and good composition design. The studio art school focuses on providing youths with quality academic art training in painting and drawing that is not offered in the public schools to round out and supplement high school AP and college programs.
Since 2010, Rosemarie has been dedicated to passing on her acquired teaching methods and knowledge of traditional realism and plein air impressionism. She has a BS in Marketing and attended art schools for graphic design, then trained under Nadia Mahfuz for 7 years in the disciplines of the 19th century French Academy, and continued with workshops and private mentoring under Robert Douglas Hunter, Sergio Roffo, Joseph McGurl, Thomas Dunlay, and David Curtis. She also trained under New York portrait artist Lois Wooley, of the Hudson River School influence, and most recently with genre painter Hongnian Zhang of the Beijing Academy of Art.
Rosemarie is an active Elected Artist of the American Artists Professional League in New York, a juried artist member of Oil Painters of America and Cape Cod Art Center, and a member of Dedham Art Association and Norwood Art Association. Her awards and exhibits include the American Artists Professional League, Salmagundi Club, NY, NY 2023 Summer Members Show and Online Auction; multiple first-place awards in Dedham Art Association shows between 2012 and 2022; honors and juried exhibits with Cape Cod Art Center from 2018 onward; an Honorable Mention at the Marina Bay Art Show in Quincy, MA in 2013; and serving as an Anchor Artist at Norwood Fine Artists Gallery in 2019.
One parent, Nina Barros, wrote, “Hi I would like to enroll my 12 year old daughter, Johanna, for this week’s classes. Mon, Wed, Thur and Friday. Ok if I just bring her at 12 Monday and register then? Thank you, Nina.”
