About

Creative Writing Workshop for Kids focuses on writing projects such as short stories, narratives, personal narratives, personal essays, poetry, journals, and graphic stories. The program includes peer editing and one-on-one mentoring with the teacher in a small-group workshop setting. The group is limited in size to keep a low teacher-to-student ratio, and student writers of all abilities are celebrated for their self-expression through the written word.

• Ages: 8–12 years old
• Schedule: Three in-person sessions, Monday–Thursday, 9am–12pm, with options in June and August 2026

The program is led by Sue and Tim. Sue earned a Master’s Degree with a concentration in writing from Wesleyan University and a B.A. in English from Amherst College, has studied at Teacher’s College, Columbia University School of Education, teaches elementary school language arts, and works as a private writing tutor. Tim holds a B.A. in English from Amherst College, earned a Master’s Degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Education, teaches English at an independent school with a focus on American literature and expository writing, and also teaches ESL for elementary-school children. The stated mission of the program is to encourage students to take their writing to the next level, immerse in creativity, and find joy in the writing process.
