About
Clark Memorial YMCA Youth Programs offers School Age Child Care programs for students in grades K-6, along with Before and After School programs. The program also includes April Vacation Club, Tumble Fun Clinics, April Vacation Open Gym / Pre School Playground, a Lifeguard Training Course, and Youth Spring Soccer 2025.
The Clark Memorial YMCA Youth Programs are part of a nonprofit community service organization devoted to the education, physical health, mental well-being, and moral development of children, families, and their community. The Before and After School programs are licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care. The organization states a mission “to build a sense of community by developing character and positive values through activities that promotes social, physical and emotional well-being for all.” It strives to incorporate the core values of honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility into everything it does and seeks to be a welcoming center serving individuals of any age, race, religion, heritage, economic circumstance, or physical ability. The Wendell P. Clark Memorial YMCA is described as a nonprofit community service organization made possible because of charitable donations, member support, and dedicated employees and volunteers.
In anticipation of Wendell P. Clark’s directives, the lot at the corner of Central and Summer Streets was purchased from the town for $1 in 1921, the Boys’ Club building on that lot was razed in 1953, construction of the Wendell P. Clark Memorial began on March 12, 1953, and the formal dedication of the Clark Memorial took place on September 16, 1954. According to shared testimonials, one participant stated, “The Y has become part of what I do and who I am,” and another said, “I always considered this YMCA my ‘Cheers’ where everybody knows your name and you always feel welcome and wanted.”
